I purchased this 1960 Chrysler Windsor Town & Country station wagon on February 7, 2026 after pursuing it for almost 4 years. It came from Washington state to California at some point and was parked out in the desert for many years. The car is Toreador Red and Alaskan White with a black vinyl 6-passenger interior. The body tag is coded 888 for special-order interior, which I believe has to do with the fact that the car has New Yorker style twist pile carpeting. Supposedly, carpet wasn't offered on the Windsor wagon, even as an option, in 1960. The car also has the upgraded steering wheel with the clear upper and lower sections. The picture left is what the car looked like when it was parked in the desert.
The car came with a registration card under the name of Francis W. Honeycutt in Spokane, Washington along with a title issued in 1978 for Francis' son William J. Honeycutt, also of Spokane. The Honeycutts were prominent real estate agents in Spokane.
The car had a quarter window broken out at some point and sat open for at least 8 years. Rain, dirt, rodents, and who knows what else, had free access to the interior. It's taking a lot of cleaning of the car with a lot of hazardous rodent droppings. The work continues.
The 1960 Chrysler Windsor wagon shares its main body with the New Yorker wagon. The wheelbase is 4 inches shorter on the Windsor, and that 4 inches comes from the space between the front wheel centerline and the front doors. This requires unique hood, fenders, inner fenders and subframe. the bumper, while identical in shape to the New Yorker, has a unique main bar due to the mounting method. The end "wings" are shared with the long wheelbase models. All 1960 Chrysler station wagons came standard with the rear assist handles and power tailgate window. Roof racks were only offered as a dealer installed item on Chrysler wagons in 1960. On Dodge and Plymouth wagons, the roof rack could be ordered to be installed at the factory.
